ABOUT THE STAG BEETLE
Stag beetles are spectacular insects, with the male measuring up to 7.5cm and having large jaws that just like the antlers of a stag. They spend most of their life underground as larvae, up to six years, feeding on decaying plant material. Once it undergoes metamorphosis, the larva hatches to becomes a stag beetle. Adult males use their jaws to fight rivals and impress potential mates.
