On the Easel
I've started a new collection of large-scale wildlife paintings (70 x 50cm), one of which includes this kingfisher flying out of the water.
As a keen photographer I use my own photos for reference where possible, or library stock imagery. I refer to several photos when planning a painting, and draw a highly detailed depiction, which is then transferred to the paper using a lightbox.

- Paints: Liquitex acrylic and Holbein gouache acrylic
