I'm Craig Austin, a UK artist & illustrator based in the Derbyshire Dales. My background is in illustration, where I started out working as a scientific illustrator. I created illustrations for different sectors over the years, including; advertising, packaging and publishing. I also have over 40 years of experience working in different areas of the design industry, including web design and marketing.
I've now returned to painting and concentrating mainly on wildlife subjects, gaining inspiration from my passion and knowledge of nature. I use my own photography and stock imagery for reference, to create meticulously hand-drawn illustrations painted in acrylic.
My wildlife art combines composition, scientific knowledge and technical skill, with the objective of capturing the life and spirit of an animal. I want to encourage the viewer to look beyond the faithful representation, and have them appreciate the anatomy and beauty of the natural world.
