Thanks for visiting! Here's a bit of info about me.
I'm Craig Austin, a UK artist based in the Derbyshire Dales. My background is in illustration, where I started out working in publishing as a scientific illustrator, producing illustrations for countless wildlife and factual books. Overtime, I shifted to commercial art, where I worked on many high profile brands in the advertising industry. I also have over 20 years of experience working in web design and online marketing.
I've now returned to painting and concentrating mainly on wildlife subjects, gaining inspiration from my passion and knowledge of nature. I use my own photography and stock imagery for reference, to create meticulously hand-drawn illustrations painted in acrylic and watercolour.
My wildlife art combines composition, scientific knowledge and technical skill, with the objective of capturing the life and spirit of an animal. I want to encourage the viewer to look beyond the faithful representation, and have them appreciate the anatomy and beauty of the natural world.
