ABOUT THE MACKEREL
The Atlantic mackerel is found in the temperate waters around Europe and the Atlantic Ocean, where it is extremely common and occurs in huge shoals. They are streamlined, fast-swimming fish that migrate to shallow inshore waters in the summer and feed on small fish, particularly sand eels. Mackerel are an important source of food for marine predators, including dolphins, tuna, whales, seals and sharks.
