On the Easel

I'm delighted to be working on a commission from an overseas customer, who has kindly requested an illustration of a 'morepork'. The morepork is a small, brown owl, found in forests throughout mainland New Zealand. It's unusual name comes from its distinctive two-toned call.

I'm working from the customer's photos for reference. Here's my initial work, on 300gsm Fabriano 5 watercolour paper, using Golden and Liquitex acrylic paints.
